Another question about pluto on the ascendant.  I have had my chart read several times and only in the last reading was the astrologer focusing on this, Pluto rising.  I find myself in the last few years teaching yoga to seniors and from there into hospice work.  I am drawn to working with the dying which looks to my inexperienced eye like a strong link between all of that Cancer and this Pluto thing.  Could someone give me more insight on Pluto rising in my particular case and  how it speaks to you?  Ever grateful, Jane

Dear Jane,

Not only do you have Pluto rising, Jane... but, it conjuncts your Ascendant to the degree.
(Pluto is at 23' 13 in Leo, and your Ascendant at 23' 51)

So here are some notes and ideas for you:

The first thing that came to my mind when i took a look at this placement, was Pluto standing as a gate keeper right on the threshold of your 12th and 1st houses. He is in a point of equilibrium between the two.

The image i get is of Pluto standing at the edge of two realities, holding a space open between them, channeling back and forth the energies of this two spaces in your chart, and in yourself.

Have you seen the image of the Ouroboros? It is the serpent that eats it's tail. It's an alchemical symbol representing the cyclical nature of things. The constant returning to death and birth, the cycle of life. Things that end and that start. The point where consciousness and unconsciousness meet.

The meeting of the 12th and 1st houses is strongly connected with this image.

The first house is the place of birth into the environment; a point of visibility, the place where we are seen and perceived; the place of outer expression in the world. It is a point of consciousness. It is associated with the sign Aries, the beginning of spring. So, you can feel the bursting quality of this energy.

The 12th house is associated with invisibility, subconsciousness, sleep and dreams, invisible enemies, uncomfortable zones where we don't get to feel freedom and life...  it is a house of confinement, associated with hospitals, prisons, madhouses

Dear Paloma,

I don't know why the power of astrology and it's interpreters is such that confirmation of what one already knows is so big.  But thank you for your beautiful insights, the huge gift of your time and care.  It all rings true and makes me cry. I am happy to know you!

Hugs back, jane
